Reserve price
A reserve price is the minimum a seller has agreed to accept at auction. If bidding doesn't reach it, the watch goes unsold.
Reserves are usually confidential, so an unsold lot tells you the market didn't meet the seller's expectation, not exactly what the watch is worth.
If you consign watches to auction, set a reserve that covers your break-even price, and treat unsold lots in published results as a warning sign about demand rather than as a price.
