How it works
- 1Enter the saleThe item price, what you charge for shipping, and the buyer's sales tax rate if you know it.
- 2See each fee bandWatches pay a final value fee that steps down as the order total rises, so each band is shown on its own.
- 3Add the per-order feeA small flat fee applies to each order above a minimum.
- 4See what you keepYour payout is the item price and shipping charged, minus eBay's fees. Add your cost to see your profit.
Why the fee is charged on more than the item price
eBay calculates its final value fee on the total amount of the sale, which includes the shipping you charge and the sales tax the buyer pays. The tax passes through to the state, but it still counts toward the fee. That's why this calculator asks for shipping and tax: leave them out and you'll underestimate what eBay takes.
What this doesn't include
Store subscriptions, promoted listings, optional listing upgrades, and currency conversion can all change what you pay, and they vary by seller. If you use any of them, add their cost to the price you need to clear. For watches sold above eBay's threshold, the Authenticity Guarantee applies; the guide to eBay's Authenticity Guarantee explains how it works.
Common questions
Why is the effective fee lower on more expensive watches?
Because the final value fee for watches is tiered. The highest rate applies only to the first part of the order total, and lower rates apply above set thresholds, so the blended rate falls as the price rises.
Does eBay charge its fee on shipping?
Yes. The fee is calculated on the total amount of the sale, including the shipping you charge the buyer and the sales tax they pay. Enter both for an accurate figure.
Are these fees current?
The rates come from eBay's own published fee page and show the date they were last checked. eBay changes fees from time to time, and your store plan or promotions can change what you pay, so check your own statements too.
How do I find the price I need to list at?
Switch to the target mode, enter the amount you want to receive, and the calculator solves for the item price that leaves you that much after eBay's fees.
