The short version
- You can use the calculators, guides, articles, and glossary without giving us anything.
- We only collect your email (and, for the paperwork kit, your name) when you choose to sign up. Most forms also have an optional phone field.
- We use it to send you our newsletter, site updates, and occasional messages about WristBook, the dealer software made by the same team. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- We never sell, rent, or trade your information.
- What you type into the calculators and the paperwork kit stays in your browser. It never reaches us.
- No advertising trackers, no cross-site tracking, and no cookie banner, because we don’t need one.
Who we are
Watch Trading Toolkit (watchtradingtoolkit.com) is operated by WristBook LLC, which also makes WristBook. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean WristBook LLC. The relationship between this site and WristBook is explained on our About page.
What we collect, and when
We collect personal information only when you give it to us by signing up through one of these forms:
- the newsletter sign-up on the home page
- the email option in the max buy calculator
- the email option in the compliance checker
- the waitlist for a city guide we haven't written yet
- the unlock step in the paperwork kit, which asks for your name, your email, and optionally your business name
- the sign-up at the end of a compliance guide, to hear when that state or city's rules change
- the sign-up on a calculator page, to hear when its fee figures or new tools change
- the sign-up at the end of an article, to get more on that topic
- the sign-up on a glossary or watch reference page
Every form except the city waitlist also has an optional phone field. From those forms we keep your email address, your name if you gave it, your phone number if you added one, and a note of what you were doing when you signed up, both the first time and most recently. That note is a short label, never free text: the calculator or document you were using, the state or city of the guide you were reading, or the topic of the article. The compliance checker also records the answers you gave it — how you buy, and whether you take large cash payments — so the emails we send you match your situation instead of guessing at it.
We also remember each specific thing you asked to hear about — a guide you follow, a city whose guide you’re waiting for, a calculator whose fees you want to track — as a list you belong to. That’s how we can tell you when that thing changes, even if you’ve signed up for something else since. You stay on those lists until you unsubscribe.
The business name you enter to unlock the paperwork kit is used only on your documents; it stays in your browser and is not sent to us. Neither is anything you type into a calculator or a document — no prices, no counterparties, no watches.
We don’t ask for, and don’t want, payment details, government ID numbers, or passwords.
How we use it
We use the information you give us to email you, and — only if you added a phone number — to call you about what you signed up for or WristBook. We never text that number, never share it, and it isn’t used for anything else. Leave the field blank and we never have it; email hello@watchtradingtoolkit.com and we’ll delete it. The emails may include:
- what you asked a form for: your compliance plan, by email, when you build one
- a short follow-up series after you sign up — a few emails on putting what you found into practice, ending with an introduction to WristBook
- a notice when something you follow changes — a guide re-verified, a calculator's fees updated — or when the city guide you're waiting for is published
- our newsletter: new guides, articles, and tools
- updates about the site, including the paperwork kit you unlocked
- occasional messages about WristBook, the dealer software made by the same team, sent by Watch Trading Toolkit
Your email is used only for Watch Trading Toolkit’s own emails. We don’t add it to WristBook’s customer lists, and we never sell, rent, trade, or give your information to anyone for their own marketing.
The follow-up series is its own topic, and every email in it has a “stop these follow-ups” link that ends the series without taking you off anything else. You’re only ever in one series at a time, and when WristBook lets us know you’ve started a trial or become a customer, the series stops. WristBook sends us only that, with the tag on the link you followed naming which of our pages it was on, and we keep it as a one-way scrambled code of the address rather than the address itself, so no series starts for that address later. If no tag came with it, we look up which of our forms you first signed up through, so we can count which pages are worth writing more of. Links to WristBook in those emails pass through our site first, so we can count how many readers followed them and send you the most relevant next email; the link carries a sealed code, not your address.
Our emails are grouped into topics — compliance updates, new tools, paperwork, and dealer guides — and you are added only to the one that matches why you signed up. Every marketing email includes a link to unsubscribe, which lets you leave a single topic or the list entirely. You can also email hello@watchtradingtoolkit.com and ask us to remove you.
An unsubscribe link identifies you with a sealed code, never your email address, so the address doesn’t appear in the link. If you joined a city waitlist and nothing else, you’ll get the one email about that city’s guide and nothing more.
What stays in your browser
Several tools save your work in your own browser’s local storage so you don’t lose it. This information stays on your device and is never sent to us:
- deals you save in the max buy calculator
- the stock list you keep in the inventory aging calculator
- everything you type into the paperwork kit: the other party's details, the watch, prices, terms, and your letterhead
- your paperwork kit document numbers, recent documents, and whether you've unlocked downloads
- whether you've unlocked your plan in the compliance checker, so you aren't asked twice
- for the current visit only, which sign-up forms have already been counted as seen
- your light or dark mode preference
PDFs from the paperwork kit are generated in your browser, too. To erase all of this, clear this site’s data in your browser settings.
Analytics, cookies, and security
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. It doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t follow you to other websites, and doesn’t build a profile of you. We don’t run advertising or social-media tracking pixels.
Alongside page views, we count two things about our sign-up forms ourselves: how often one is on screen for a moment, and how often someone signs up through it. That is how we tell a form nobody likes from one nobody sees. Each count is a number stored against the month, the form, and the page it was on — no email, no name, no IP address, no identifier of any kind, and nothing that could be traced back to a person. To avoid counting the same view twice, your browser remembers for the rest of that visit which forms it has already reported; that note stays on your device and is cleared when you close the tab.
When you search the guides for a city we haven’t written yet, we count the city you typed, so we know which guides to write next. The count is the city name and a number for the month — nothing about you.
When you click a link to WristBook on one of our pages, we count the click against that page. The count is the page’s address and a number for the month — nothing about you.
If you use our calculator on another website where it’s been embedded, we count that it was viewed on that site, by the site’s address only. It sets no cookies and asks nothing of you.
The site sets no cookies for visitors. The only cookie it ever sets is a sign-in cookie for the site’s owner, on its private admin pages; if you aren’t signing in there, you never receive it. Our hosting provider’s security system may place a strictly necessary cookie in your browser if it needs to check that your visit isn’t an automated attack.
Like any website, our hosting provider processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type in order to deliver pages and to protect the site, for example by blocking abusive traffic. We don’t use it to identify you.
Who processes your information
We rely on three service providers, who handle information on our behalf and only for these purposes:
- Resend stores our email list and sends our emails.
- Vercel hosts the site, provides the analytics described above, and protects the site from attacks.
- Upstash stores the sign-up form counts described above, which are numbers, not personal information. It also keeps the schedule for a follow-up series in progress: which email is next and when, with your address held encrypted. That entry is deleted when the series ends or you leave it.
All three are based in the United States, and your information is processed there. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the site and its users from fraud or abuse.
How long we keep it
We keep your email, name, and sign-up details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Information in your browser stays until you clear it.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any email. You can also ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it entirely: email hello@watchtradingtoolkit.com and we’ll take care of it. We honor these requests wherever you live.
Security
The site is served only over an encrypted connection, and we keep what we collect to a minimum. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care to protect the information you give us.
Children
This site is meant for adults in the watch trade. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, email hello@watchtradingtoolkit.com and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, such as a new use for your email, we’ll tell subscribers by email before it takes effect.
