Compare selling channels for a watch

The right channel for a watch is not the one with the lowest rate — it's the one that nets the most after everything comes out. Enter a sale price and your cost once, and see every channel side by side with the date each rate was checked.

How it works

  1. 1Enter the sale priceWhat you expect the watch to actually sell for, not the asking price.
  2. 2Enter your cost and outgoingsWhat you have in it, plus shipping out and any prep.
  3. 3Read the gapEach channel shows what it nets and how far behind the best option it falls.

The cheapest rate is not always the best net

Channels differ in more than their headline percentage. Some charge processing on top, some tier their rate by price, and some cost nothing but take longer or reach fewer buyers. Comparing them on rate alone hides all of that. Comparing them on what actually lands in your account does not.

The gap column is the useful one: it tells you what convenience is costing. A marketplace that reaches a buyer quickly may well be worth its fee — but you should know the size of the fee before you decide, rather than after.

What this does and doesn't model

Each channel's rate comes from its published schedule, applied to the sale price of the watch, with the date it was last checked shown on this page. eBay charges its fee on the order total including any shipping you charge the buyer, so for an exact figure there use the eBay fee calculator, and the Chrono24 and StockX fee calculators for those channels' own structures.

What no calculator can weigh for you is liquidity. A channel that nets more but takes months to find a buyer may lose on carry what it gained on fees — which is what the holding cost calculator is for.

Common questions

Why isn't the highest-netting channel always the right answer?

Because speed and reach are not in the arithmetic. A direct sale avoids fees entirely but only if you have a buyer. The comparison tells you what each route costs; how quickly each one sells is your own judgement.

Where do these rates come from?

From each channel's own published fee schedule, with the date it was checked shown beside it on this page. Rates change, so treat an old check date as a prompt to confirm before you rely on it.

Does this include what the buyer pays for shipping?

No. Enter what you pay to ship the watch out. Shipping you charge the buyer is handled in the dedicated eBay calculator, because eBay's fee is charged on the order total including it.

Can I compare a channel that isn't listed?

Yes. Use the custom option and enter the rate it charges, and it will be priced alongside the published ones.
