Chargeback
A chargeback is a reversal of a card payment initiated by the cardholder's bank, usually after the buyer disputes the charge, which pulls the money back from the seller.
For watch dealers, chargebacks are a real risk on card sales, including fraudulent ones where a buyer receives the watch and then disputes the payment. Once the watch has shipped, recovering it can be difficult.
Reduce the risk with signature-required, insured shipping, clear records of the sale and delivery, and extra caution with large card payments from new buyers.
