Payment processing fee
Also called card processing fee, processing fee
A payment processing fee is what a card processor charges to accept a payment, typically a percentage of the sale plus a small fixed amount per transaction.
On a direct sale it's often the main selling cost. Stripe's published standard rate for US online card payments is one example of how these fees are structured.[1]
Include processing in your net proceeds for any card sale, and remember that card payments also carry chargeback risk that wires and escrow don't.
Processors also charge more for some card types and international payments, so a sale to an overseas buyer can cost more to process than a domestic one.
