Consignment agreement

Also called consignment contract

A consignment agreement is the written contract between a dealer and a watch's owner setting the terms on which the dealer will sell the watch on the owner's behalf.

It should cover the payout and when it's paid, the listing price and the minimum the dealer may accept, how long the dealer will hold the watch, who pays for prep, who carries the risk of loss or damage, and how the watch is returned if it doesn't sell.

A clear agreement signed at intake prevents most consignment disputes. Have an attorney review your standard terms before you rely on them.
