Flipping

Also called flipper

Flipping is buying a watch, often new from an authorised dealer, with the intention of reselling it quickly for a profit, usually because it trades over retail.

Brands and authorised dealers often discourage flipping, and some use purchase agreements or allocation practices to limit it. For a dealer, flipped watches are a common source of nearly new stock.

Buying from flippers is no different from any other purchase: check the watch, the papers, and the seller's identity, and price from current completed sales rather than the premium the seller hopes for.
