Comps
Also called comparable sales, sold comps
Comps, short for comparable sales, are recent sales of the same or closely matching watches used to estimate what a watch is worth.
Good comps match the reference, condition, accessories, and channel as closely as possible, and they're completed sales rather than asking prices. A full set with recent service is a different comp from a watch-only piece with a worn bracelet.
Your sale-price estimate is only as good as your comps, and your whole buy price is built on that estimate. When comps are scarce, lower your estimate or widen your margin rather than guessing.
