Asking price

The asking price is what a seller lists a watch for, as opposed to the price it actually sells at.

Marketplaces are full of asking prices, and they tend to run higher than completed sales, sometimes by a lot, because listings that don't sell stay visible. Pricing your purchases from asking prices is one of the most common ways to overpay.

Use asking prices as a ceiling on what the market might bear and completed sales as your working estimate. When the two diverge widely, trust the completed sales.
