Rehaut
Also called inner bezel, flange
The rehaut is the inner ring between the dial and the crystal, around the edge of the dial, sometimes printed or engraved with markings.
Some brands engrave text or the serial number on the rehaut, which helps with authentication and with matching the watch to its papers.
Check any engraving on the rehaut for crisp, even lettering and alignment, and compare it with verified examples.
An engraving that's shallow, uneven, or misaligned with the dial markers is a common sign of a replacement part or a counterfeit, which makes the rehaut worth a close look under a loupe. Compare its markings with verified examples of the same reference and production period.
