Clasp
Also called deployant clasp, buckle
The clasp is the fastening that closes a bracelet or strap, such as a folding deployant clasp on a bracelet or a buckle on a strap.
Clasps show wear quickly, and scratches on a clasp are often the first sign that a watch described as unworn has been worn. Clasps also carry codes or markings on some references that help with dating.
Check that the clasp closes securely and doesn't open under light pressure.
Replacement clasps are common, so on collectible pieces check that the clasp's style and markings suit the bracelet and the watch's era.
