Watch service
Also called overhaul, full service
A watch service, sometimes called an overhaul, is the routine maintenance of a mechanical watch: the movement is disassembled, cleaned, inspected, lubricated, reassembled, and regulated, with worn parts replaced and seals checked.
For a dealer, a service is both a cost and a selling point. It can lift what a watch sells for and make it easier to sell, but it costs money and keeps the watch out of your hands for a while.
Get a quote and a turnaround estimate before you commit, and weigh the likely sale-price lift against the cost and the extra days held.
