Rotating bezel
Also called unidirectional bezel, dive bezel
A rotating bezel is a bezel that turns, typically used to time an interval by aligning its zero marker with the minute hand. On dive watches it usually turns one way only, so an accidental knock can only shorten the timed period, never lengthen it.
A bezel that slips, turns both ways when it shouldn't, or feels gritty usually needs attention, often a cleaning or a new spring.
Test it through a full turn at intake and note any misalignment between the bezel and the dial, which can point to a replaced insert or a worn mechanism.
