Lugs
Also called watch lugs
Lugs are the projections on a watch case that hold the bracelet or strap in place.
They're where polishing often shows first, since their edges and bevels are easy to soften, so experienced buyers look at them closely when judging a case's condition and originality.
Photograph the lugs from the side and above in good light when you list a watch. Buyers will ask to see them.
Drilled lugs, with holes through the side for the spring bars, appear on some references and make strap changes easier; their presence or absence can also help identify a case's period. Bent or dented lugs are a repair cost as well as a cosmetic one.
