Screw-down crown
Also called screw down crown
A screw-down crown threads onto a tube in the case to seal it, a key part of what keeps many sports and dive watches water resistant.
If the threads are damaged or the crown isn't screwed down fully, water can get in. Damaged threads or a worn tube are a repair, not a cosmetic issue.
At intake, unscrew and re-screw the crown gently to check the threads engage smoothly, and always make sure it's fully screwed down before a watch leaves your hands.
