Sales tax permit
Also called seller's permit, sales and use tax permit, TPT license
A sales tax permit is the state registration that lets a business collect and remit sales tax on its taxable sales. States use different names: Texas issues a Sales and Use Tax Permit,[1] and Arizona requires a Transaction Privilege Tax license.[2]
For a watch dealer selling to the public, it's usually one of the first registrations to get, before making taxable sales.
Each state guide covers the permit, how to apply, and what it costs.
Permit requirements apply state by state, so a dealer selling into several states may need registrations beyond the one where the business is based.

- Arizona Department of Revenue - Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) License. A business selling a product or engaging in a taxable activity in Arizona must obtain a TPT licence from the Department of Revenue before making taxable retail sales; the licence is also the vehicle for reporting and remitting city privilege tax. THE COST FOR EACH LICENCE PER LOCATION IS $12.00; and where ownership is the same; locations can be consolidated under one licence number so the taxpayer files a single return. For special events the STATE LICENCE FEE REMAINS $12 no matter how many special events a vendor attends; but A SEPARATE CITY LICENCE FEE IS REQUIRED for each city in which the vendor operates. Licences are not delivered until all licence and renewal fees are paid in full; and certificates cannot be printed online. The TPT licence number is eight digits — retrieved 2026-09-23
