Caliber
Also called calibre
Caliber, or calibre, is the name or number a maker gives to a specific movement design, used to identify it across the watches that use it.
Knowing the caliber tells you what a watch should contain, how it's likely to perform, and what servicing it may need. Many brands use the same caliber across several references, while special or older calibers can add collector interest.
Confirm that the caliber in a watch matches the one specified for that reference. A mismatch is a strong signal to investigate before buying.
