Co-axial escapement

Also called co-axial

The co-axial escapement is an alternative to the conventional lever escapement, designed to reduce sliding friction in the movement, and is used most widely by Omega.

Its intended benefits are more stable timekeeping and longer intervals between services. Many Omega watches with co-axial escapements are also Master Chronometer certified.

For a dealer, the main practical point is servicing: make sure a watchmaker is familiar with the movement, or use the brand's service network.

Buyers of these watches often ask about service intervals and history, so keep any service documentation with the watch to answer the question.
