In-house movement
Also called manufacture movement, manufacture caliber
An in-house movement is one designed and made by the watch brand itself, rather than bought in from a specialist movement maker.
In-house movements are a point of pride and a selling point for many brands, and they can support higher prices. The term is used loosely, though, since the degree of in-house manufacturing varies widely between brands.
From a dealer's side, in-house movements can mean servicing is best done through the brand, which may affect cost and turnaround when you factor a service into a deal.
