Superlative Chronometer
Superlative Chronometer is Rolex's own precision designation. Each movement is first certified as a chronometer, and the finished, cased watch is then tested again by Rolex.[1]
Rolex states that the rate deviation it tolerates on the finished watch is minus two to plus two seconds a day, tighter than the chronometer test the movement passes alone.[1]
As with any certification, it describes the watch when new. A pre-owned Rolex that runs well outside its specification is likely due for regulation or a service, which belongs in your price.
