What to check before you buy

  • Treat the bracelet as part of the case. It is specified as integrated, so a damaged or missing bracelet is not solved by fitting a strap and a replacement is model-specific.
  • Quote the published tolerance of minus two to plus four seconds a day. TUDOR states a tuned figure here beyond COSC certification, which is a stronger claim than most sheets offer.
  • Set the day and the date separately across midnight and confirm both index cleanly. The day wheel is the component most often damaged by careless setting.
  • Look along the polished intermediate links for handling haze, since they are the only polished surfaces on an otherwise satin bracelet.
  • Work the T-fit clasp through every position and confirm each one holds under a firm pull.

A tolerance beyond the certificate

Most movement specifications stop at the certification. This one does not.

TUDOR publishes: Manufacture Calibre MT5633 (COSC), tuned to −2/+4 seconds.

COSC certification is a standard applied to the bare movement before casing, allowing −4/+6 seconds a day. TUDOR is stating a tighter figure than the certificate requires, as its own claim about this reference.

Two things a dealer should do with that.

Quote it. A published −2/+4 is a stronger statement than "COSC certified", and it is one you can hand to a buyer directly.

Test against it. With approximately 70 hours of reserve you can wind the watch, leave it against a reference clock overnight and compare. An example running +6 is outside the figure TUDOR publishes for it, which is a real finding rather than a matter of opinion — and one you would not have reached using the COSC window alone.

Integrated means the bracelet is the watch

The bracelet is specified as a 5-link integrated bracelet in stainless steel, with satin-brushed external and central links and polished intermediate links.

Integrated construction means the band is contoured to carry the case line onward instead of hanging off ordinary lugs. Three consequences, all of them yours to manage.

Wreck the bracelet and you have wrecked the watch. No strap from the drawer will save it; the attachment geometry belongs to this case alone.

Replacements are model-specific. Check end links meet the case with no light showing through the join, which is where a mismatched or badly refitted bracelet gives itself away.

Ask where removed links went. A bracelet sized down for a previous owner has links somewhere, and without them a buyer with a larger wrist cannot wear the watch at all.

Polished links are where the wear shows

The finishing is mixed by design: satin on the outer and central links, polish on the intermediates.

Satin is forgiving — its grain absorbs light marks. Polish is not. Every piece of handling haze this bracelet has collected will be on those intermediate links, and they run the full length of the band.

Hold it under a window so a hard line reflects along the polished sections and follow the reflection. That is your honest condition read, and it is what a buyer will see first in daylight.

While the bracelet is in hand, hang it from one end and watch for droop, then work the T-fit folding clasp with safety catch through its positions.

Two displays to exercise

The dial carries a date at 3 o'clock and a day at 12 o'clock — two calendar displays rather than one.

Set them separately and watch both change across midnight. Of the two, the day disc takes the most abuse — typically from someone advancing the calendar while the changeover gearing is already under load. A day left halfway across its aperture means a trip to the bench.

Applied stick hour markers are worth a loupe too: check each is seated flat and none has lifted.

Case, crown and rating

40mm stainless steel with polished and satin finishes, a stainless steel bezel, sapphire crystal, and a screw-down winding crown with the TUDOR logo in relief — note the logo, where the Black Bay references carry the rose.

Water resistance is 100m (330 ft): a solid everyday figure behind a screw-down crown, and not a diving specification.

TUDOR states a five-year transferable guarantee needing no registration and no scheduled maintenance. Establish the original sale date, because unexpired cover transfers with the watch.
