Selling watches on Chrono24: commission, fees, escrow, and dealer packages

The specialist venue, where buyers arrive already looking for a watch. Private sellers pay a published commission; dealers pay a monthly package plus a negotiated per-watch rate that is not published as a single figure.

Schedules read 2026-09-22. Platforms change their fees without much notice — check against your own invoice before you rely on a figure.

What it charges a seller

Free to list; a commission once the watch sells — but the rate depends on which kind of seller you are

Private seller commissionListing itself is free. This is the rate published in the FAQ, and it is the figure the calculator models.6.5% once the watch sells
Professional dealer packageA dealer pays for the package by how many watches they list, and a per-watch commission on top.Monthly billing by listing tier
Professional dealer commissionNot published as a single percentage. A dealer should take their rate from their own account rather than assume the private-seller figure.Set per dealer via Chrono24's own revenue calculator
Payment processing
Not published as a separate seller-side line in the sources read here.
Listing fee
None for private sellers — listing is free and the commission falls due on sale. Dealers pay for listings through the monthly package instead.

Getting paid, and what's required of you

Payout timing
Not published as a day count in the sources read here. Payment sits in Chrono24's escrow account and is released to the seller after the buyer has the watch, so the effective wait is shipping plus the buyer's inspection rather than a fixed schedule.
Paid to
Released from the escrow account holding the buyer's payment.
Account
A seller account; professional dealers are on a package rather than the private-seller terms.
Verification
Chrono24 states that every dealer is verified, and awards a Trusted Seller seal.
Business account
Dealers trade under a professional account, which is what changes the fee structure from the published private-seller rate.
Authentication
Not established by the sources read for this page. The sources read here describe dealer verification and a Trusted Seller seal rather than per-watch authentication of the kind eBay operates above its threshold. Treat authentication of an individual watch as something to confirm with Chrono24 for your account rather than assume.
Buyer protection
Chrono24 Buyer Protection, built on an escrow account
What it covers
The buyer pays into Chrono24's escrow account and the money is held until the buyer has the watch. Orders placed with Buyer Protection are shipped fully insured. For a seller this inverts the usual risk: you ship against money you can see but cannot yet spend.

What it's good at

  • Watches that need a buyer who already knows what they are looking at — the audience is specialist rather than general.
  • Dealers with enough volume to make a monthly package cheaper per watch than a flat commission.
  • Cross-border sales, where the escrow and insured shipping do real work.

What to watch out for

  • The published 6.5% is the private-seller rate. A professional dealer's rate comes from Chrono24's own calculator and is not public, so budgeting from the FAQ figure will mislead you.
  • A monthly package is a fixed cost: in a slow month it lands entirely on the few watches you did sell.
  • Escrow means the money is real but not yet yours. Plan cash flow around the buyer receiving the watch, not around the sale confirming.

Chrono24 is where the buyers already are. That is its whole proposition, and it is why dealers tolerate a structure that is considerably harder to price than eBay's.

Two completely different fee structures

The figure most people quote — 6.5%, free to list — is the private seller rate, published in the FAQ. It is clean, it is knowable in advance, and it is not what a professional dealer pays.

A dealer is on a package: a monthly fee billed by listing tier, plus a per-watch commission that Chrono24 sets through its own revenue calculator rather than publishing as a single number. Two dealers on the same platform can therefore be paying materially different rates, and neither can read theirs off a public page.

If you are a dealer, take your rate from your own account and put that into the fee calculator rather than the published figure.

A monthly package is a fixed cost

This is the part that catches people. A commission scales with what you sell; a package does not. In a strong month the monthly fee spread across many watches barely registers. In a slow month the same fee lands on whatever few watches did sell, and the effective rate on each one can be far above anything you would have agreed to as a percentage.

Enter a realistic monthly volume rather than a good one when you work out what the platform actually costs you.

Escrow changes your cash flow, not your risk

The buyer pays into Chrono24's escrow account, and the money is held there until they have the watch. Orders placed with Buyer Protection ship fully insured.

For a seller this is mostly reassuring — you are shipping against funds that demonstrably exist, which is a different proposition from shipping against a promise. But the money is not yours until the buyer receives the watch, so the wait is the shipping leg plus whatever inspection period applies, not a payout schedule you control.

What is verified, and what isn't

Chrono24 states that every dealer is verified and awards a Trusted Seller seal. That is verification of the seller, which is not the same thing as authentication of the watch — the model eBay runs above its threshold.

The sources read for this page do not establish a per-watch authentication programme, so this page does not claim one. If that matters to how you sell, confirm it against your own account terms rather than assuming parity with other venues.
